Friendship Remotely

Some times, a person that you only know through Television in a way becomes a ‘friend’. I know y’all will think I’m crazy for saying that. However, this situation is a bit different because he, Dan Wheeler, has shared so much of himself and his family not just on QVC but on Facebook and other media outlets. Perhaps it’s because what he’s shared is of his wife, Beth, and their battle with her Cancer.

Beth has been fighting Endometrial cancer for 5 years. A hard fought battle and she and their family have done it with grace and love. Over the last months the Cancer came on with such force and 5 weeks ago Beth was hospitalized. They tried platelet transfusions which sadly did not work and Beth left this world on Friday, October 30th.

By all that I’ve seen of Beth, she was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister and friend. She will be missed by all who knew her personally and now by so many because of Dan’s blog sharing.

Hold everyone you love close and be sure to let them know how you feel about them. Cancer really does Suck!

You should know that this story of Beth is personal for me as I feel so lucky and blessed, I found my Uterine which can also be called Endometrial, so very early and survived again. I feel such sadness for Beth and her family, she had so much love and didn’t deserve to leave them so soon.

All I can say is this, Cancer is a battle, it is a fight and there are way to many types and too many people diagnosed. Those that are Survivors we Celebrate but we should also Remember and Celebrate the lives of those who have lost their battles with Cancer.

Is there a cure, I really dont know based on this is a disease from your cells and that is what we are made up from. Can the CSP-3 study that is tracking habits and lifestyles that the American Cancer Society is doing (thank you Dan Adler and others for being a part of this) find the answers, I don’t know.

If you listen to everything they say, then you will never eat anything again. Cancer shouldn’t be about fear and I hope you do not take that away from anything I ever say. The default cause of course is my least favorite word in every language, the O word that I will never type out. I was 8 and one of the healthiest kids around, no history in the family and bam there it was the first time. When they focused on the O word they totally missed the 2nd battle I’d have and still have, hence the hate of the O word.

We should live life to the fullest and laugh as much as we can. I think we should also eat what we like and what we can (allergies and diabetes aside) just do so as all things in moderation. You know yourself better than anyone else, you know when something is wrong. If you do find any changes going on with yourself, please get thee to a doctor, there are signs and many of them are quiet.

I started this about a remote friend, who I will never meet, Dan Wheeler from that home shopping station QVC.  His wife, Beth, has left an imprint on me and many others through what he has shared from his heart. Beth will be remembered by so many and Celebrated not just by her family and friends.  They have also shared Beth’s memorial celebration service, so touching and filled with love. From this service, I’ve added, “See You Again,” by Carrie Underwood.

I can only send remote hugs and love to the entire Wheeler Family, and know that Beth will always be with them and everyone she has touched.  R.I.P Elizabeth Ann (Johnson) Wheeler, I know that you are dancing with the angels. xoxo

TGIF Wonderful Week 1

So I have been back home and work for a week.  I might just say here that 8 weeks off was just Amazing and I’m so very happy recovery went so well!  Thanks again Mom and Dad xo

It was the start of a very Happy New Year, especially for a few people that I work with because it means less they have to do now I’m back LOL

Monday was fun but my oh my was I tired and bedtime was 4pm. Hey I’ve gotten better, I made it to 8pm Thursday and Friday. Oh does it count that I had to take a day off already?  Wonderful Wednesday for me meant a full day in bed to catch back up hehehe

Thank goodness that the grocery stores deliver because I still can’t carry heavy stuff.  The delivery guy was extremely nice and insisted on bringing everything up to the kitchen, usually we leave it on the landing and I take it the last 3 steps.

I took way to many stairs today but had to finally get my hair done again, it’s been 12 weeks and the grey was really showing.  So we’re back to the “heat miser” short bright red and ready for my cute and sassy headbands.  Side note, if you go to Atlantic City, head on over to Caesar’s shops, there’s a FAB $10everything store.  Watches of all kinds of bright colors, really cute hats, lots of bling, great travel pillows and these Adorable Headbands that, I’m told, lots of gals pick up to wear to “Tea Parties” in NYC.

Capping off the work week watching Neil Simons’  “Murder By Death”  LMAO!  I can’t resist same way I can’t resist…… “Brighton Beach Memoirs” or Mel Brooks’ “Young Frankenstein” and “High Anxiety” and that other movie called “Stripes,” they are just too fantastic and fun.  If you’ve not seen it, yes it’s a “spoof” and lots of corny jokes you must have a watch at least once.

Millionaire Lionel Twain invites the five most brilliant private eyes to a dinner – and    a murder. So, Sidney Wang from China, Dick Charleston from New York, Jessica Marbles from England, Milo Perrier from Belgium and Sam Diamond from San Francisco arrive at the remote castle. They are welcomed by Jamesir Bemsonmam, the blind butler. At nine, a dinner is supposed to be served. The five private eyes and their companionships are in the dining room, wondering what everything is about. Suddenly, Lionel Twain appears and lets the private eyes in on his plan: Exactly at midnight, a murder is going to take place. And he offers a million dollars to the one who can solve the murder. Then he disappears. Before long, a problem arises: The butler is found dead – and it’s long before midnight! Will the five most brilliant minds of our time be able to see through the elaborate set-up staged by a criminal mastermind?

Well, all the detectives have arrived and I’m cracking up, ‘Dick Charleston’ aka David Niven has just said, “oh isn’t that nice darling, we’re in Wang’s wing.”  LOL and the butler when asked for a Hot Chocolate has said, “I don’t think we have n’est pa only Hershey’s”  It’s an all star cast featuring Eileen Brennan, Truman Capote, James Coco, Peter Falk, Alec Guinness, Elsa Lanchester, David Niven, Peter Sellers, Maggie Smith, Nancy Walker and Estelle Winwood.

I hope your first week of 2015 has gone smooth with a bit of laughter.  Have A Fantastic Friday Night xox

First Day Back …. Whew

LOL Who says you can’t go back!  Today was my first day back at work after 8 weeks from some surgery, I should probably blog about the surgery and recovery but I’ll do that maybe tomorrow.  I’m offbeat and fun and who needs to do things in order heheheeh

Amazing that I was able to sleep last night and up at 5am, yup 5am ….. there’s nothing like driving to work in the dark!  My first thought was I hope my keys work in the door, which they did, whew.  I stood there looking at the steps (there’s 40 of them) and said (out loud) soon,  I’ll walk you again soon.  Down the hall and took the elevator and yippie it was working!

Back at work and LMAO so many days away and yet nothing changes!  I’m thankful to my supervisor for all the work he did extra and I had no doubt that he would keep everything organized and easy for me to get back into the swing of things, Tom is Great!

There were many laughs of the day, catching up with Dave and and the big hug from Jen, brief meeting with the new employee too too.  Have no fear Minerva, I’m back to help with the phones LOL.  I wasn’t the only one out during this time so we are still hoping and thinking of Gene to get well and thankfully Bill was able to get back today as well.

It’s always fun to catch up and laugh as much as we can, including how things never change and that 1 employee who for some reason won’t speak or you apparently did something wrong in another life to them look you in the eye and turn and walk away.  I wish no harm to the negative one, it just makes me laugh harder.

It was really great to be out and back and the day went well, I started organizing my files on the companies.  The transition back so far was easy, again thanks to Tom and I know and I’m sure each day will bring new things each day of the week.  Oh, my friend the exterminator, Tony, came in to do his stuff today.  He’s really nice and we always have a lot of laughs about Mickey Mouse.

There was pain, sure my body said ooo hard chair, what the hell happened to the soft couch LOL.  It was pain I’ve had the last few days just more of it, but I’m not a pain pill kinda girl so I’ll live with it and if necessary take a Tylenol.  (I have a full bottle still of that good stuff, if anyone wants it LMAO)

PS the pain did move around the last hour of work and I had to laugh because I really did have a pain in my ass!!

Drive home was good and Cold, yeah Winter Girl was cold, and tired, whew….. took a nap  that was more like sleep and I hear that bed calling me back.

I Hope Y’all Had A Great Day and Cheers For Manic Monday by The Bangles

Goodnight xo

FANTASTIC IDEA ~ Kindness Everyday xo

I caught a glimpse of a blog on the internet ….. shocking right LMAO ….. But this blog was different and it made me do a search, I know I just shocked you again hahahah

This is a Fantastic Idea and I’m going to share it with all of you.  Many will say that actions speak louder than words and yup they sure do.  Most actions are simple and easy and affect the world around you.  This Idea I’m going to share is a bit like ‘pay it forward’ (love that movie) in that the same way laughter is contagious, or the way someone yawns and then the whole room of people do too.

This is Project 365 Kindness!  What better way to start this new year than to accept the “challenge” to do a random act of kindness each day!

These acts can be big or small, something that can make a difference in someone else’s life.  Some examples are ….. holding the door open for someone and I can tell you first hand how helpful, generous and kind that is to the elderly and handicapped xo  Maybe help someone with their shopping bags, take the time to ask someone how they are or if they need help and really listening.  Welcome a new neighbor, pet sit for a friend, make dinner for your local firefighters or police department, share an extra dinner coupon at the restaurant with a stranger.  Just think of all the possibilities of kindness you can do and how much brighter you can make another’s world!

A single act is like a drop of water that falls into the ocean of life and this begins the ripples of kindness that has the possibility of making waves all over the world!

Reaching out in so many other ways especially inventive ways can really make a difference in someone else’s life.  You can help create a wave of kindness and generosity that will reach far far and wide!

A little kindness each day .. goes a long long way!  Don’t think of this as a difficult challenge but rather as a positive way for you to change the world and I invite you to pass this along to others and lets see how we can make the Random Act of Kindness (RAK) Movement grow!

Here’s a website for you to check out, they have all types of kindness ideas, you can share your stories there or here on my blog

Welcome In Advance to RAK2015 with Suzie!  Let me know if you are joining me so we can share ideas!  You can send me a message or leave comment here xo
